We found the reviews of The Square Boutique Hotel & Spa and booked the Couples Retreat package enroute whilst travelling in our car from the South Coast. We arrived about 90 minutes later and all was ready for our arrival which was very impressive. The hotel is new and very clean. The rooms are relaxing but still have a luxurious feel. We ate dinner in the restaurant and had some of the nicest duck we have ever had. The staff are well trained and very friendly. If you like the beach you will need a car or taxi but its only a 5 min ride.

It was truly amazing and from the staff to the food to the room thank you so much. You also made my birthday very very special which was such a nice surprise and the spa was also great and also to be able to use the sauna and steam bath at no extra cost was great. I wish you lots of business and success and the Cosmopolitan restaurant is one of the best restaurants I've eaten at in a long time.

Spent 3 nights at this new hotel from 27 November with my wife and 10 year old daughter after noticing a great bed and breakfast promotional offer. The hotel is situated more towards the La Lucia Ridge side of Umhlanga in the quiet and more business part of town.

Upon arrival we were treated extremely well by friendly and efficient staff and this continued throughout the entire stay. No doubt this can be attributed to being a small hotel with approximately 50 rooms and therefore guests are treated extremely well. The rooms were spacious enough and offered all the necessary amenities and the bathroom compact. The beds and pillows were really good and enabled a pleasant nights rest. The hotel offers a decent enough breakfast (both hot and cold) and for supper we opted to eat in the adjoining Square complex which has a Greek and Chinese restaurant.

The only potential downside to staying here would be if you don't have transport as the beach is approximately 5 minutes drive which could be a fair walk back to the hotel after a day on the beach or you are looking for vibrant nightlife. Otherwise in a nutshell I would highly recommend this hotel to either businessmen/women or those people wanting a quiet weekend away and don't forget to make use of the spa. Will definitely be back in the near future.
